As wussy as I am with scary stuff, I decided to watch episode two. In broad daylight. With my cat on my lap. Haha.
This episode opens right in the aftermath of the pilot, which saw Sam and Dean take off together to hunt the demon that killed their mother and Jessica. But their father had been searching for the same demon for years, so they figure their best bet was to find their missing father first. The coordinates their father left Dean led them in the middle of the woods in Colorado. There, they found out about missing hikers (one of them played by Cory Monteith! Not the surviving one, unfortunately), and research revealed that it happened every few years since 1936.
They went into the woods with Haley and Ben (played by the kid who would later be Ethan Wates in the Beautiful Creatures movie! XD), the siblings of one of the missing hikers, and Roy, a guide Haley had hired. Soon after finding Haley's brother's destroyed camp site, though, they realise that whatever they're hunting was faster, and smarter, than they originally thought. Sam concluded that it was probably a wendigo, which is a monster from Algonquian myth. Sam and Dean made a secure area for them to wait out the night, but when the wendigo tried to draw them out by using human voices to call for help, Roy broke through the barriers, and was taken.
The remaining party decided to go hunting, but were separated after the panic that ensued when they found Roy's body, resulting in Dean and Haley being taken. Dean had a bag of M&Ms with him, and left a trail of candy for Sam and Ben to follow, leading them right to the wendigo's lair. They found not only Dean and Haley, but also the missing hiker, and cut them down. They destroyed the wendigo using a flare gun.
